Can a former sex worker be a "Prince Charming?" Everyone is talking about the the star of LOGO's new dating series (Finding Prince Charming), Robert Sepúlveda Jr. He's an interior designer who turns out to have had a past as a sex worker. Sepúlveda confirmed the rumor that has the internet ablaze with an interview with Noah Michelson of the Huffington Post and the Host of the show Lance Bass. “The past is the past. I was young and it helped through college” Sepúlveda states.
Prince Charming is a work of fiction. He is a stock character in fairy tales. As much as we want to believe in them we can't. He doesn't exist. No one can live up to that ideal. It's a fantasy like most realities shows that are produced and somewhat scripted. Prince Charming is the hero that rescues the damsel in distress. In the context of LOGO's show Find Prince Charming Sepúlveda is not the Prince Charming. He's the damsel. He is the one looking for the hero to liberate him from the evil spell or villain. Some may think his past is what he needs to be saved from. In the fantasy of reality television maybe it's best that the damsel isn't "perfect." It may keep everyone watching.
